Roomservice by CORT appointed by Howard de Walden as preferred supplier

The Howard de Walden Estate, which lets all of its properties on an unfurnished basis, will provide its tenants with access to the new service through its network of appointed lettings agents.

Shirley Boullier, lettings manager of the Howard de Walden Estate comments: "We have always let our residential properties on an unfurnished basis, however, over recent years our lettings agents have seen an increase in the number of people asking about furniture solutions.  By appointing Roomservice by CORT as our preferred rental supplier, we are able to provide our customers with the option of renting furniture from a market leader that offers a high level of customer service."

Roger Hollis, Managing Director of Roomservice by CORT comments: "Furniture rental is the ideal flexible solution for tenants who are renting an unfurnished property.  The three most important features of this new approach are that the furniture is appealing, it is very reasonably priced and is very simple to order.  People will only see themselves renting the property for one or two years at the most, therefore they do not want the cost and hassle of having to buy furniture for their apartment, which in many cases may not be suitable for their next home."

The concept of tenants and owner-occupiers renting furniture is new to the UK, but is well established in the U.S., where Roomservice by CORT's parent company, CORT, has established itself as a market leader.  The deal with Howard de Walden is the first step in rolling out the concept across the UK, and follows the strategic expansion plan that CORT envisaged when it purchased Roomservice Group in January 2008.

The furniture rental service will enable tenants to rent their furniture on a 12 or 24 month term, with each item individually priced, allowing tenants maximum flexibility in how their new home can be furnished.  Roomservice by CORT will offer tenants the choice from two collections; the Premium Collection including designer luxury furniture and the Executive Collection targeted at people looking for high quality, contemporary furnishings on a budget.  All of the furniture has been carefully sourced by Roomservice by CORT to ensure that not only does it look stylish, but it is also durable and practical for day-to-day living.

The option of renting furniture offers tenants a number of distinct advantages.  Residents will not have to spend a large amount of money furnishing a home, which they may only intend to stay in for a short period and will not be left with items that are unsuitable for their next property.  In addition, at the end of the term, residents will be able to hand back the furniture with no further obligation or use Roomservice by CORT's Rent to Own scheme which allows items to be purchased for an additional fee.

All furniture will be delivered directly to each property and the experienced team will work with the tenant to create the best possible layout.  The flexibility of renting also enables tenants to reconfigure their furniture package to meet their changing needs as items can be added, removed or substituted.
