How to embrace the chill, with autumn bedroom ideas and more

The best seasonal decorations take their inspiration right from nature, which offers colours and textures that are easy to incorporate into decorative projects. Here’s some ideas on how to bring some autumn scenery into your home, from autumn bedroom ideas to autumn living room ideas and beyond.

Turn to Nature

With bright, colourful leaves, and squashes aplenty, nature offers the best of beauty during the autumn. Reflecting the outdoors is an effortless way to get your home ready for the season.

Get Cosy

The right textures and fabrics can instantly take a room from summer to autumn. Swap the lighter hues and fabrics of summer for thicker threads and richer colours to give your home a rustic yet relaxing feel.

Put a thick area rug on the floor, and add plush pillows and throws to couches and chairs to promote a comforting ambiance. Look to deep hues like cranberry, sage, red-orange, and burnt sienna to mimic the colours you find outside and add warmth. Woven throws, velvet, faux fur and plaid blankets encourage everyone to curl up in front of the fireplace (or the TV!) when it’s chilly outside.

Add Accessories

Well-chosen accessories give your home that perfect touch you’re looking for. If you have a fireplace with a mantle, you’re in luck. Adding a few pieces to this area immediately creates an eye-catching seasonal display. Top your mantle piece with some scented candles, and pair these with ornaments and vases in warm colours.

Try something new!

If traditional isn't your thing, than try using autumnal accessories in modern shades and finishes. Our in-house interior designer Marie decorated our company reception with pumpkins coloured black, white, gold and pink to create an eye catching alternative to a traditional autumn display! Don’t Forget the Outdoor Space

Autumn decorating doesn’t stop inside the home — decorating your porch or entrance hallway adds a festive touch to the outside of the house, welcoming visitors before they even cross the threshold. If you have porch steps, then add pumpkins to either side of each step. Pumpkins aren't just for Halloween! Strings lights around doorways and trees and add storm lanterns with flickering candles create ambience outside.
